Brazil Pork Exports Continue to Grow - Less Dependence on Russia

Brazilian exports of pork, considering all products (fresh and processed) totaled 62,000 tons in April, 47.2 per cent higher than in the same period last year. According to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), in foreign exchange earnings, the balance of April shipments reached US $110.5 million, 17.6 per cent higher than the number recorded in the same month last year. Russia plans to take 10% share of ASEAN import market in short run

In the next 3-5 years Russia’s supply of value added goods is projected to total 10 percent of the imports to ASEAN countries, said Pyotr Fradkov, head of the Russian Export Center, on May 12 at a press conference dedicated to the upcoming Russia-ASEAN 2016 business forum. Total U.S. red meat and poultry production in 2017 is projected to be above 2016. Beef production is forecast higher as larger 2015 and 2016 calf crops are expected to support year-over-year increases in cattle placements in late 2016 and early 2017.
