Eurodon to restock following AI outbreak

Russia’s agricultural holding Eurodon will, in late February, target re-stocking of poultry houses in the Krasnosulinsky district of Rostov Oblast, where, in late December, an outbreak of highly pathogenicavian influenza(AI) broke out. In total, Eurodon suffered RUB1 billion (US$16 million) in losses because of the outbreak, primarily because the company had to cull 160,000 turkeys. Although a number of EU policies have the potential to combat food waste, their potential is not being exploited, according to a new report from the European Court of Auditors. Current estimates indicate that, globally, around one third of the food produced for human consumption is wasted or lost. In their report, the auditors examined EU action taken so far to reduce food waste and how the various policy instruments work.
